Since Friday I have had swelling in my left leg. This is the first time I've had swelling. I was able to rest it a lot over the weekend, but once I started walking around more the bigger it became. Ryan has listened to my complaining this weekend, but I didn't show my leg to him until yesterday. I had him compare my legs and it was obvious which one was the problem one. We were watching TV on the couch and he kept staring at my leg. Finally he burst out laughing and I told him not to look at my leg anymore. He said to me, "That's not my wife's leg! That's not your leg!" We had a good laugh over it!
On Tuesday I met with the endocrinologist and the nutritionist. I get to check my blood four times a day and I am on a special low carb plan. At the end of the week I email my doctor the record of my blood sugar counts as well as a log of my carb intake at each meal and my morning ketones. They review it to make sure it's okay. It takes a lot of planning and charting, but it is worth it. If my blood sugar can be controlled by my diet then I won't have to take insulin. When I started yesterday, my blood sugar was still high. Today my breakfast and lunch counts were slightly under the goal count, but after dinner I had a normal count! So hopefully it is starting to work! I have also realized how blessed I am to have such a good insurance plan. For all the specialists I have seen and all the prescriptions I have filled, I have paid less than $60 for everything! I also really like how my OB, endocrinologist, and nutritionist all communicate and work together. It feels nice to have so many people keeping a close watch on me and the baby.

don't take me too seriously, since I live with the condition, and sometimes it's all I think about...but consider that your beautiful boy is pressing on all sorts of Lymph nodes and disturbing those tissues which could lead to swelling in the lower extremities. If you are getting massages, hopefully the specialist knows to treat the Lymphatic System as well. Otherwise, you might look into Manual Lymph Drainage, or MLD, which is an excellent massage technique, especially during pregnancy. I know some people, of course! And they are in North Austin...
By the way, sometimes I look down and think, "That's not my leg." So I absolutely get where Ryan's coming from! :)
