Who Needs A Playground?

I don't know if I mentioned this, but we moved over Memorial Day weekend.   They are remodeling the whole place, including the landscaping and amenities so there is no playground yet.  But we have been making our own places to play.

Cannon loves to play in bushes, plants, trees, and vines.  We were wandering around the complex one day and found a fabulous bush area.  There is just enough walking room that makes a perfect setting for make believe.  Cannon likes to pretend that he is a train and this is his hideout.  One time he spent just over an hour playing in these bushes. He didn't want me to take a picture of him today, but you can see his black shirt all the way in the back.

Blue likes these bushes too.  For cooling off in the shade or for hunting lizards!

Along the way of our routine walk path there is a bush with baby birds! We like to look at them and watch them grow.  We went to see them today, but they had already flown the nest.  At least I hope that's what happened!

And last, but not least, the mountain!  On our way back from our walk one day Cannon noticed this huge pile of dirt.  He kept looking at it like he wanted to climb it and then he looked back at me.  I told him yes.  He immediately got to the top and was so proud of himself!  He called it his mountain.  Then he learned to slide down his mountain and that became his game for the next 30 minutes.  I wish I got a video of him.  He was having the best time!  It was just pure kid fun!

Cannon's New Bed!

After two failed attempts at letting Cannon sleep in a bed, we decided it was time again.  However, we bought him a new bed!  Well, my mom did.  We knew the bed we wanted to get him and she sent us an IKEA gift card for his birthday.  The bed went on sale this month, plus we had a $25 off coupon so we got an even better deal!  We let Cannon play around in the bed and he was so excited when we told him we were taking it home.

The bed was in about a thousand pieces and it took us a couple of hours to put it together.  Cannon loves his new bed and sleeps so well!  He has had NO problems coming out of his room!

And the cool thing about this bed is that you can flip it upside down and make it a
loft bed, but you still have a place to play underneath.  And that is the reason why we chose this bed.  The bed "tent" is sold separately, but he really wanted it.  After this picture was taken we actually turned to bed so that he is facing his bathroom (so he can see his moon light) instead of the windows.  It works out better that way since now he has access to climb the ladder.

I'm so glad he finally has a real bed!  Thanks Nana!

Here's the video I took so my mom could see:
