Family Bike Ride

Yesterday we went on our first official family bike ride, meaning that we each rode our own bike.  Cannon is outgrowing the baby seat I have on my bike, so that's going to be tricky if we want to go long distances.  But last night we wanted to ride up to Subway for dinner.  It's really not that far, but we thought it was too far for Cannon to ride himself.  However, he insisted that he ride his own bike!  So we went and he did great!  The best part is that it's practically all down hill on the way back. 

We ride bikes often, but we will even more when the weather cools down.  Cannon loves riding his bike! He is pretty fast and can balance now, so I am looking forward to many more family bike rides!

Goodbye Alero!

After 11 years, we said goodbye to Ryan's car.  It was bittersweet, but mostly sweet!  For years we have been wanting to get rid of it since it was beat up and on its last leg.  But we also remember how it always came through for us.

So now we are a one car family.  And with the cash we got, Ryan purchased a new road bike as his new transportation to work.  On the days that I don't need the car, he can use it for work.  Last night he tested it out and rode the 9.3 miles (each way) to work.  He is sore today, but he thinks he can do it!  I'm proud of his sacrifice and he is looking forward to being is shape!  And in case you are wondering, Ryan's office has showers that he can use.  

Some things I will miss:  Having two cars.  Ice cold AC!  It fits three car seats in the back.  The squeak of the door when it opens and closes and the sound of the honk when the car is locked (that's how we know Daddy is home!).  Ryan says he will miss all the quirks.  "I knew the car well.  We knew each others secrets."

Some things I will NOT miss:  Fuel gauge not accurate.  The ceiling fabric hanging down (thanks Cannon for giving that a head start).  The smell.  People asking if our trunk is open.  The constant worry of it dying for good.  But besides all that, we are super excited about the money we will save on gas, insurance, and maintenance.  And we don't have to fork over $400 to get Florida plates.

Solution to Our Train Problem

Our problem was 30 trains and how to store them. I HATE the big bins and wanted to get away from them!
