A yucky week that ended lovely
By Monday this week I had developed a sinus infection. I had suspected it on Sunday, but knew it for sure when I woke up the next morning. I am not one to take medicine, particularly now that I am pregnant, so I was just going to wait it out. I saw my chiropractor on Tuesday and he did this cool pressure thing on my sinuses that greatly relieved the pressure. On Wednesday I still wasn't feeling very well. I went to my morning visits and then I went home to do some work that I had brought from the office. The mom for my 5:30 visit called around 5:00 to cancel because he had a fever. And that's when it all began. It was either the flu, a stomach bug, or something I ate. I'll spare you the details, but they were the typical symptoms that you can imagine. When Ryan got home from the young men's activity I asked him if he felt cold in the house. Ryan was actually warm and I was the cold one. That's when he told me that I had a fever. What's that? Firstly, I never get the flu. I also never get fevers. I honestly can't remember that last time I had a fever. It has been at least 12 years. I am quick to spot fevers with kids, but I really didn't know what it felt like for me to have one. As I was in denial, Ryan felt my face. Of course he said I was burning up. But how could I be hot when my nose was cold? I spent most of Thursday relaxing. When I woke up this morning, I felt much better! My sinus infection is almost all the way gone and I was able to end the day with a very lovely pregnancy massage!

Need a pediatrician
Calling all friends! It's time for me to start looking for a pediatrician in the Cedar Park area and I need your help. Tell me who you like, who you don't, and why. Thanks!

24 weeks, 24 centemeters, and 24 pounds!
I had my 24 week appointment on Tuesday. So far I have gained 24 pounds!!!! Although, the doctor has me recorded as only gaining 19. I'm not sure what initial weight record they are using, but I know what I weighed before this all began. She said she is expecting me to gain about 35 pounds. Yikes! I don't know where all this weight is going. My belly has stayed the same for awhile. I'm sure I'm due for another little growth spurt. At this appointment she measured my belly from top to bottom which came out at 24 inches. She said that is a perfect measurement for my gestational age. It is also time to pick a pediatrician and sign up for child birth classes.

I got a crib!
First, let me start off with this story about Ryan. For the past week he has been growing out his beard, which I can't stand. He threatened that he was going to let it grow out until Cannon is born, which I forbid. He finally decided to shave Saturday morning. I joked that he should leave a child-molester mustache, which he decided to do. Here was the result:
In another week or two he would have looked like the guy from Toto. After walking around the house for awhile singing Rosanna, he told me that he was going to go like this with me to register at Babies-R-Us so that I would be embarrassed. Calling his bluff, I said he could leave it on and I suggested that he leave it on for church on Sunday. Just as we were about to leave he decided to shave it all off because he said he didn't want to embarrass me too much. Sure. I knew he was really worried about embarrassing himself. Besides, he lost the cool factor when he put on his glasses. Then he looked like the brother from Napoleon Dynamite.
So we registered at Babies-R-Us. We also got a really good deal on a crib. Basically we got $100 off and it was already put together. It has the main features I wanted (white and a stationary side). It also comes with the side rail to use as a toddler bed and it can be used as a full size headboard. It's a really sturdy crib, so hopefully we will be able to use it for all our babies.

The heat is on
The pregnancy hotness has officially hit me. When I am my normal self I tend to be cold-natured. If it falls below 80 degrees outside, I get cold. So this internal heat wave has taken me by surprise. I guess I noticed it the other night when I woke up in the middle of the night hot. This wouldn't have been so unusual except that it was in the 30's outside and we had our heat turned off. Poor Ryan has had some frozen nights. I have also noticed it at church, especially when I hold Cole. I usually take him with me for the second and third hour so Kristina can play the piano for the primary. During the third hour I go to young women's and that room is usually freezing (or so they say). I am usually burning up during Sunday School, so walking into a cold room while holding a warm baby feels good. I suspect my heat wave will only get worse as time passes. Luckily, it's still winter and I won't have to endure a Texas summer while pregnant. It feels good to not be the coldest one in the room anymore!
On a side note, I feel Cannon move all the time! He definitely has awake times and sleeping times. Generally, he has an awake time in the early evening around 7:00 or 8:00. I probably notice it more because that is usually when I am relaxing at home. Sometimes he moves around when we are going to bed. He also has an awake time early in the morning, before I get up. Sometimes he will start moving in the middle of the night and that has started to wake me up. I can also feel him several times during the day when I am at work, usually when I am sitting down. Ryan, or anyone who puts their hand on my belly, has been able to feel him move. Ryan started feeling him at 19 weeks. On Sunday we saw my belly move. It wasn't a huge move, more like a twitch, but it was still fun to see. This week I have noticed that his moves are becoming stronger and more frequent. He only hurts me when he buries himself as far south as he can go, which seems to be his favorite hang out spot. He tends to be really low and towards my right, but this week he ventured out to the left and even up to the top!
Oh, and I bought his bumper pad for his crib. After we found out that it was a boy and not a girl, I had to rethink the nursery decorations. I finally found a bumper pad that I liked at Pottery Barn, but it was $89. I looked at other places to see if I could find a similar one, but with a lower price. No luck. So I decided to look on Ebay and, voila, I found it for $25! It arrived in the mail the other day and I am so excited about it! I don't want to get the whole bedding set. The only other item I want is the crib skirt, but I haven't seen it on Ebay yet.
Here is what the bumper pad looks like. It is light blue on one side, and white on the other, with stripes on top. The crib I want to get is white, instead of dark wood.

Happy Anniversary!
This past weekend I watched Carl and Kristin overnight (they happen to be 2 of my most favorite kids). Ryan was in Denver for a wedding, so he wasn't able to come with me this time. When I was there Becky told me that one day she was talking to Carl. She told him that it has been a big year for me: a new job, a new house, and a new baby (almost). Carl responded, "Wow! This is a lucky year for her!" Becky agreed, and proceeded to tell him that some people would call this blessed.
I have to agree with Carl that this has been a "lucky" year for me. I am very blessed to be married to Ryan who is my favorite person in the whole world and to be able to celebrate all our good luck together. But let's not get too mushy.
Here we are at the Jack Johnson concert when we were just dating. That pimple on my chin has mysteriously reappeared this week.
Here is a pic from our wedding. The day was very much like it was today: sunny, warm, and windy.
Here we are now. We've both gained some weight, but I am the only one with a real excuse. In fact, I was pregnant in this picture, but I didn't know it yet.
