3rd Trimester!
So I have made it to the 3rd trimester! Today I had my 28 week appointment. Total weight gain is 28 pounds and my belly is measuring at 29.5 cm (1.5 cm bigger than I should be measuring). Up until this point I have always measured within one day of my gestational age. We guessed on the baby's position: head towards the bottom, butt up and towards the left. This makes sense though. When I lay on my back I can usually feel a big hard bump towards my left and that's where we see the big movements. I feel the little finger movements down at the way bottom. I also believe he has been punching my bladder when he stretches. This is a regular and uncomfortable occurrence. I also had the glucose intolerance test today and I got to drink the yummy orange flavored glucola. It didn't taste that bad, but orange isn't my favorite flavor.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Ryan's secret is out...he can cook! At the beginning of January I asked Ryan what he wanted to do for Valentine's Day and he suggested that we stay home and he would cook dinner for us. Ryan has never cooked an entire meal for me. I know that he is a fantastic dough maker and his family has told me that he can cook, but until now I had never experienced a homemade Ryan meal that didn't include pizza, pretzels, scones, or root beer. I was delighted in Ryan's suggestion and I waited anxiously for the occasion. On Saturday night Ryan prepared delicious pecan crusted chicken with cranberry stuffing and white asparagus. For dessert, we had homemade double chocolate chile brownies (Ryan and I both love spicy chocolate)! He even topped the hot brownie with a scoop of chocolate icecream and sprinkled it with chocolate flakes that he grated from a chocolate bar. Wow! Everything was so good! Unfortunately for Ryan, he is going to have to cook more often.

A yucky week that ended lovely
By Monday this week I had developed a sinus infection. I had suspected it on Sunday, but knew it for sure when I woke up the next morning. I am not one to take medicine, particularly now that I am pregnant, so I was just going to wait it out. I saw my chiropractor on Tuesday and he did this cool pressure thing on my sinuses that greatly relieved the pressure. On Wednesday I still wasn't feeling very well. I went to my morning visits and then I went home to do some work that I had brought from the office. The mom for my 5:30 visit called around 5:00 to cancel because he had a fever. And that's when it all began. It was either the flu, a stomach bug, or something I ate. I'll spare you the details, but they were the typical symptoms that you can imagine. When Ryan got home from the young men's activity I asked him if he felt cold in the house. Ryan was actually warm and I was the cold one. That's when he told me that I had a fever. What's that? Firstly, I never get the flu. I also never get fevers. I honestly can't remember that last time I had a fever. It has been at least 12 years. I am quick to spot fevers with kids, but I really didn't know what it felt like for me to have one. As I was in denial, Ryan felt my face. Of course he said I was burning up. But how could I be hot when my nose was cold? I spent most of Thursday relaxing. When I woke up this morning, I felt much better! My sinus infection is almost all the way gone and I was able to end the day with a very lovely pregnancy massage!

24 weeks, 24 centemeters, and 24 pounds!
I had my 24 week appointment on Tuesday. So far I have gained 24 pounds!!!! Although, the doctor has me recorded as only gaining 19. I'm not sure what initial weight record they are using, but I know what I weighed before this all began. She said she is expecting me to gain about 35 pounds. Yikes! I don't know where all this weight is going. My belly has stayed the same for awhile. I'm sure I'm due for another little growth spurt. At this appointment she measured my belly from top to bottom which came out at 24 inches. She said that is a perfect measurement for my gestational age. It is also time to pick a pediatrician and sign up for child birth classes.
