Boating Fun!
On Saturday we packed up and headed to Lake Austin to go boating with my family. This was Cannon's first time on a boat and I think my dad was more excited than anyone! Cannon was his usual self, just chillin'. We rode the tube together and then we found a cove for swimming. Usually Lake Austin is a too cold for my style, but the water was perfect!

Cannon loved helping Grandpa drive the boat!
We had a great time and we all took long naps when we got home! Unfortunately, Cannon had a fever when he woke up. I took his temp and it was 104.5! Cannon slept in bed with me that night, but it turned out to be a pretty rough night. He still had a fever all day on Sunday and a little one when he woke up this morning and he has been refusing to eat. However, he did make an exception for a package of Rolaids this morning, to which I had to call Poison Control. Oh, the joys of being a parent!

Utah Trip
Cannon and I spent a week in Utah to see my family and friends. We had a great time and the weather was absolutely gorgeous! I left my good camera at home (I did find the cord to charge the battery, but I can't find the battery!), so I was stuck with the lame one. The pictures aren't my finest (even after photoshop), but I'll be positive a person and be grateful that I had a camera. I specifically picked that week, because my dear friend Kim would be visiting at the same time. She and her family live in Amarillo, but it's still eight hours from here. We have been dying to get the boys together, so this was our chance!
Cannon was happy and content wherever we went and hardly had any tantrums. He had so much fun playing with his cousin Kennedi and it was fun watching them!

It was nearly impossible to get a picture of them together, smiling at the same time!

On Wednesday, I went to Lagoon with one of my best friends, Stacey. It was her work Lagoon day and she had an extra ticket! My mom and Merci watched Cannon and I got to spend the day having fun and catching up with Stacey. I had such a fun time! Her worked served us dinner and had a raffle. I even won a $25 gift card to Sky Box restaurant! ~Actually, I took Merci out to dinner and it ended up being a $50 gift card!

We went to the zoo (which was Cannon's first time) with Merci and Kennedi. We met up with my Aunt Jill and her two little boys, Ben and Alex. I think our favorite part was the bird show. They trained the birds to fly right over the audience, just inches from your head!

Cannon enjoyed swimming at my mom's house, even though the water was freezing!

My Uncle Dave and Alex came over and Alex really wanted to swim. So he and Cannon swam together. Alex is so cute with little babies and he kept calling Cannon "Buddy."

We also swam at the rec center across the street from my mom's neighborhood. It has an indoor pool with a nice kid area. Kim and Clayton came along and I finally got to meet my blogging friend, Shirley, and her little boy Ryan. The boys were born about a month apart, Clay in February, Ryan in March, and Cannon in April. Seated left to right is Cannon, Clay, and Ryan. Aren't they cute?

On Sunday we went to a birthday party for Kim's nephew. Just to clarify, I am also friends with all of Kim's siblings too. We grew up together and they were like my second family. The party was fun and they had lots of kid things to do in the backyard.

We also visited my Mimi who is 87. This was my rocking chair when I was little and now it's just right for Cannon.

It's customary for me to do a photo shoot with Kennedi each time I see her. Although I didn't have my good camera, I still got a few cute pics.

Beach Bums!
Ryan came up with an awesome idea for a mini family vacation.
On Monday we drove to College Station. Ryan's aunt and uncle were out of town, so they let us have their house, complete with a pool.
On Tuesday we swam all day.
On Wednesday we drove to Houston to visit the aquarium downtown and then we drove to Galveston to go the the beach!
On Thursday we swam and Cannon got to play with Cole. Then we went home.
I couldn't believe it, but I left my camera at home! Kristina was nice enough to let me borrow her camera on Wednesday. I took a million pictures, but her are a few that capture our day.

Cannon LOVED petting the baby sting rays and would laugh every time they swam to his hand.

If you look closely, you can see a white tiger sleeping on the rock.

We rode the carousel, ferris wheel, and train.

This was Cannon's first trip to the beach!

He loved wearing his sunglasses, but he kept trying to take off mine!

He did not like the taste of salt water!

He loved the sand!

And he loved just walking around.

His new word, "Cheese!"

The water was crazy warm and the air was hot! We had such a fun day and a fun week!

More Fun Things!
It was like all of a sudden we are doing all these fun things all the time!
Something fun for me is that I finally got my hair cut! I have been thinking about it for awhile and about a month ago I decided that I did want short hair again. It didn't come out exactly how I wanted it, but I guess it will work for now.

Cannon had his 15 month well-check this morning. I can't believe I have a 15-month-old child! And I can't believe how old I look with my new hair cut. The visit went well, but he had to get three shots and his blood drawn (from the vein). I was telling his pedi how he eats non-food items on a regular basis. I think you've heard some of the stories of the things he puts into his mouth. I feel like it's getting worse. He will grab a piece of paper, take a bite, chew and swallow it, likes it's food. He also eats rocks (yes, eat, as in swallow). We talked about his nutrition. He eats lots of fruits and veggies, meat, grains, milk (but not too much), water. So they took his blood to test him for lead, but it came back normal. He also has some eczema on his leg, probably from swimming so much. So she recommended switching to a thicker lotion. Other than that, he is growing really well. He weighed in at 24lbs 12oz (50th percentile) and 32.5" for length (90th percentile). He is starting to get long and skinny. His length is always about the same percentile, but his weight is getting less. Here are other facts about Cannon:
Vocabulary: "dad," "mama" (although not very often), "this," "boo," "no" (that's a new one as of today), "thank you," "all done," and he signs "eat," "more," "milk," and "all done." He also can shake his head yes or no when you ask him a question.
He is starting to learn body parts. He knows head, teeth, mouth, ears (kind of iffy), toes, hands, feet (maybe), tummy and tongue are emerging. But I can't get him to point to his nose!
He is following one step directions fairly well, but not yet two step directions.
He loves singing songs! First I sing the song and he does the actions with me and then he likes to sing the song himself (his baby version of it). I have some laminated pages with pictures on them and each page represents a different song. He goes through the pile and picks out a song to bring to me and says, "this." It's really cute! He does the same thing with books. He loves reading!
He likes helping with chores, particularly the dishwasher. So we let him put the silverware in the dishwasher and he does a pretty good job.
His latest obsession is stuffed animals! At the library they have a big huge stuffed Clifford dog and he runs up and gives it a big hug! And yesterday we went to Baby Earth and they had a big huge giraffe that he loved to pet and hug. Today he noticed his stuffed animals on top of his book shelf and he requested the big bear.

Someone got him some cowboy boots for my baby shower. They are still a little too big, but he loves to wear them! I need to get it on video, because he does this funny walk.
We got a baby bike seat to put on my bike. It's really cool because it goes in front instead of behind you. Cannon loves it! We used it twice now, but it's so gross and hot outside right now that we're hardly ever outside for too long (unless we're swimming). We might start going in the mornings when it's not as hot or riding it to the pool.

The Children's Museum
Today we went to the Austin Children's Museum with Kristina and kids. I have been wanting to take Cannon for a long time, but I was waiting for him to walk. Once a week they have their baby bloomers program and the museum is only open for kids under age three (which makes it so nice for the little guys to run around). Well, I thought that it was on Tuesdays, but it's actually on Mondays. Despite all the big kids running around, it was still a lot of fun. Here's some of the fun stuff we did:

We played giant sudoku.

He loved the trains! He's never played with a train set before, but somehow he just knew to put the train on the track and push it. I tried to get lots of picture of Cole and Cannon together, but it's nearly impossible! And my camera was acting up, so a lot of the pictures turned out too blurry.

He was obsessed with this giant chess set. He kept carrying the pieces around, but I felt bad because there were some kids actually playing a game. But they were nice and let him play with the captured pieces.

Hiding behind a big connect 4 game

He did enjoy tearing paper and putting the crayons in and out of the box.

He loved these mirrors and kept coming back to them.

And he liked these strings too.

Park, Pool, and Paramedics
Rick and Kristina are in town for a few days, so today we went to Zilker Park with all the cousins. It was scorching HOT, but it was still fun! We weren't they for too long, but long enough to play on the playground and ride the train.
Me and Cannon
Kristina, Lyla, Cole, and Rick
JT, Kylene (who we call Aunt Ky Ky), and Jade
Then we went home for naps and met up for swimming later. When we were at the pool there was a women who went unconscious and fell to the ground. Bev, who used to be an EMT, rushed over to help. She gave her a couple rescue breaths, but she couldn't find a pulse. So she did two more breaths and then the lady opened her eyes. Her daughter and grandkids were there and her daughter called 911. Bev stayed with them until the paramedics arrived and helped her get in touch with their other family members. She said that she had cancer and was receiving treatment. I love to hear about Bev's paramedic stories, but it was really cool to see her in action! She is awesome in an emergency! She stays calm and she always knows what to do. Add that with her swim instructor certification and you know that she's who you want with you when you're at the pool.
Cannon had another awesome day at the pool! Bev gave me the next steps to do with him.
